Vanilla Simple Syrup

Vanilla simple syrup is a luxurious way to breathe new life into your spent vanilla beans from homemade vanilla extract. Don’t toss those pods—turn them into liquid gold! This subtly sweet, aromatic syrup is perfect for elevating your favorite drinks. Stir it into hot lattes, iced coffees, or herbal teas for a warm, comforting hint of vanilla. It’s also a game-changer in cocktails, lemonades, or even drizzled over pancakes and fresh fruit. A little splash goes a long way in adding elegance to the everyday.

Ingredients:

1 cup filtered Water

1 cup granulated Cane Sugar

1 oz. of spent Vanilla Beans

Instructions:

  • Use a knife to carefully scrape the vanilla beans from the inside of the vanilla bean pods. To make my vanilla extract I slice open the length of the Vanilla bean pod to expose this area. If you have new whole beans, you would need to slice them in order to expose the vanilla beans.
  • To a medium saucepan, add the filtered water, granulated cane sugar, empty bean pods, and vanilla bean scrapings and bring to a boil.
  • Once the contents begin to boil, reduce the heat and cook at a simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove syrup from the heat, cover with the lid, and allow to steep until it reaches room temperature.
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup to remove any larger pieces of vanilla bean pods.
  • Store in an airtight container and refrigerate.
  • Use within 30-45 days.
