Sourdough Waffles

These waffles have become a beloved Sunday morning tradition in my home. I always double the recipe to ensure there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy, with extra waffles to freeze for quick and delicious breakfasts throughout the week. They are perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly satisfying. Whether topped with a homemade fruit sauce, fresh fruit, a pat of butter, or your favorite syrup, these waffles are sure to be a family favorite!

Ingredients:

1 cup Unbleached Flour

2 Tbsp. Sugar

1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder

1 tsp. Celtic Salt

2 large Eggs

1/2 cup Whole Milk

1 cup Sourdough Discard

3 Tbsp. Melted Butter

2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Instructions:

  • Preheat the Waffle iron.
  • Add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a bowl and stir together until combined.
  • Add eggs, whole milk, sourdough discard, melted butter and vanilla extract to a second bowl and whisk together.
  • Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and blend until smooth. The immersion blender comes in handy here!
  • Fill the waffle maker and cook to the waffle maker’s specifications.
